As an arranger for the Woody Herman Orchestra, Jimmy Giuffre had a hit with “Four Brothers” in 1947, a composition that would define the special sonority of the saxophone section constituting of 3 tenors and 1 baritone. In 1958, Giuffre, now an established figure on the Jazz scene, made a record overdubbing himself on tenor sax to recreate the “Four Brothers Sound”. This arrangement is a simple yet sophisticated and unique arrangement of the classic Harold Arlen song “Come Rain Or Come Shine”.
