As recorded by Tadd Dameron on The Magic Touch (Riverside) 1962
JSB-004 Score and parts for 5 saxophones (2 altos doubling on flute, 1 tenor doubling on flute, 1 tenor, 1 baritone), 3 trumpets, french horn, 2 trombones and rhythm section (piano, bass & drums) – 45€
First composed for a 1956 recording session in a smaller setting, “Fontainebleau” was the reworked by Dameron for his 1962 comeback album “The Magic Touch”, this time for a big band. The work is a through-composed short suite, that features Dameron’s gracious writing at its best. A classic that may never get old!
