As performed by Shorty Rogers and His Giants, 1951
JSC-004 Score and parts for trumpet, alto and tenor saxophones, french horn, tuba, piano, bass and drums – 35€
A fast tune from the pen of Shorty Rogers, recorded for his first Giants recording session that helped define the West Coast & Cool Jazz sound, inspired by the Miles Davis nonet (“Birth of the Cool” sessions). Although clearly influenced by Be-bop harmony and velocity, Shorty Rogers was able to give the music a clarity and simplicity of ideas that would be very influencial on the West Coast.
The set of parts goes with an alternative tenor saxophone part substituting for french horn.
